ABOUT WELLINGTON, SOUTH AFRICA: Wellington is a town at the heart of the Cape Winelands in the Western Cape province. It is just a short 45 minutes drive from Cape Town to this picturesque town and its numerous wineries on the banks of the Kromme River (Dutch for "Bent River"). The beauty of this area at the base of the Groenberg is best viewed by foot, by horse or by car to take in the scenery of fynbos, vineyards, olives and historical buildings. The town is also below some of the oldest mountain passes in South Africa. Wellington's economy is cantered around agriculture such as wine, table grapes, citrus fruit and the brandy industry. The town is also an academic centre, with Huguenot College, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Bible Media and Huguenot High School amongst others.
