B&B Die Stroom

This area is regarded as one of the best whale-watching sites in the world, which is a further reason for visiting between June and December. Licensed boats are allowed to approach within 50 meters of whales and it is not unusual to find yourself wet from the spray of their blowholes. The appealing little village of Kleinbaai lies at Danger Point Peninsula, where shark diving and whale watching are world-renowned draw cards. As a result Kleinbaai, which is only 6 kilometers from the town of Gansbaai, is relatively unknown, although its position amongst milkwood trees, fragrant weather and summer wild flowers makes it the perfect break-away from the city. It is only 2 hours drive from Cape Town and half an hours drive from Hermanus. Come view the Southern Right Whales as they arrive to give birth where cold Atlantic Ocean meets the warm Indian Ocean at Cape Agulhas, or “The Cape of Storms”, the most southern tip of Africa, only an hour’s drive from Kleinbaai. Kleinbaai lies next to Danger Point Peninsula Nature reserve with it’s famous lighthouse. It is possibly the main reason for Gansbaai’s popular nature-based tourism. It is from the natural harbor of Kleinbaai that shark-diving boats allow visitors to get ‘up close and personal’ with Great Whites (Carcharodon Carcharias) that frequent these waters in such vast numbers.
