Room 1

Room 1 has a private patio, with covered seating and fountain and a view of the formal rose garden, with Besemkop, the koppie that is Calitzdorp's icon, in the background. Like all the bedrooms, it features a king size, extra length bed. Room 1 is distinguished by its Wedgewood blue colour scheme, an enormous 19th C mirrored French wardrobe and two inlaid Edwardian 'peacock' chairs. This spacious bedroom is the largest of the four stoep rooms and includes an exclusive dressing area.

Room 2

This room has access to a secluded walled garden and fountain, with views over the rose garden and a gentle slope planted with indigenous succulents, to the village icon, Besemkop in the background. In room 2 (R 700 pps), the colour scheme is predominantly shades of orange. The exquisite flame mahogany wardrobe was made by a German craftsman for his 12-year-old daughter in 1884. A beautiful replica dressing table (also in mahogany) with its delicate Edwardian chair adds cachet to this room.

Room 3

Room 3 has a secluded garden with seating and water fountain looking out on the indigenous shrubs and succulents on the slope outside and on Calitzdorp's icon, Besemkop (broom hill). Bedroom 3 (R 700 pps) is finished in shades of lemon. A pair of elegant French commodes with marble tops feature as bedside tables, hosting Victorian silver lamp stands. A selection of original landscape paintings by South African artists, depicting indigenous Bushveld and mountain scenes, enhance the walls.

Room 4

This room has access to a fully secluded walled patio and fountain, with views over the formal rose garden and a gentle slope planted with indigenous Karoo succulents and shrubs. Bedroom 4, the more secluded of the larger rooms, is decorated in cool shades of green and features a 19th c Dutch yellowwood cupboard, yellowwood dressing table, two Victorian easy chairs upholstered in splendid green leather and an outdoor table and chairs in the shade of our magnificent Jacaranda tree.

Room 5

Room five, the Premier Room (R 900 pps) is the largest room in the House. It faces west and overlooks the main garden leading to the swimming pool and gazebo, and across a verdant valley filled with orchards and vineyards, to the stark and majestic Swartberg (black mountains) on the skyline. Five enjoys the legendary Klein Karoo sunsets, best viewed from the private, walled stoep with its own umbrella, table and chairs. The stoep leads directly to the indigenous garden and pool.
