Guestbook Reviews:

The following reviews are from Cathbert Country Inn's guestbook.
We were a group of 12, all family. We seeked something out of the ordinary, away from it all and yet conveniently close to wineries and eateries. Well, we were most impressed. Something for everyone here. The energetic climbed the majestic Simonsberg mountain, the cyclists flattened the mountain tracks and the rest of us floated from winery to winery in the neighbourhood. The fine dining experience was worth a Michelin star and the hosts and staff could not have offered better service. Well done guys. We will be back and tell the world about your special destination

We were in the bungalow with it's own plunge pool, and to wake up in the morning, look at the sweeping panorama across to the mountains around Paarl, a dip in the pool, and off to a sumptuous breakfast on the verandah, to meet and chat with the other guests, well you just can't beat it. The staff were really helpful, and kept everything spotless and clean. Ambiance is an overworked word, but in this case, it just sums up our holiday experience. My wife and I would have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Cathbert. We could'nt have asked for better hosts.

We were pleasantly surprised at the location up the hill a bit, with great views down into the valley and mountains all around. The drive up is about 2 miles, a slow go, but well worth it through farm and vineyards. Once you get there it's just awesome. The rooms were well appointed, the food was outstanding, the lawn and gardens superb. We had the Duck one night - best ever. Breakfast was nicely done with fabulous fruits and breads and muffins. Hot items were your basic eggs and meat, also good and cooked to order. Aubrey gave us some good ideas on where to do our tasting and had some good dinner recommendations. We did not use the mini bar, but I did notice the prices were very reasonable. There was a 30 Rand cork charge if you brought your own wine to dinner, which we did. All in all great experience and no complaints at all

Thanks so much to Lynne and Aubrey and all the staff for another lovely stay at Cathbert.
This is our fourth time there and it is still a pleasure to eat breakfast on the verandah,
dine on wonderful food for dinner - quality tiptop. Lynne could not do enough to make us at home and the comfortable sunbeds around the pool made it even harder to drag ourselves away from the wonderful views - oh those sunsets!

After 30 years of work and travel in Southern Africa we found this paradise on earth with its tranquility and hospitality. The food is excellent and satisfies all 'food-lovers'! A wonderful place to come back to!
