The Elephant Rock Guesthouse is named after the well known rock formation just outside of Kleinmond, which depicts a profile of an elephant. It’s other claim to fame is that this historic building was once the old police station of Kleinmond. The “guests” of a decade ago were prisoners who were locked in to stay on the premises! Today’s guests, however, will not recognise the cells when they enjoy the comfort and beauty of these rooms.
Elephant Rock Guesthouse is situated in Kleinmond, a peaceful Western Cape coastal village. Nestling at the foot of the Kogelberg Mountain Range, Kleinmond borders on the KOGELBERG BIOSPHERE RESERVE which is home to 1600 species of indigenous plants. The reserve was recently declared a World Heritage Area. The picturesque town of Kleinmond also forms part of the Overberg Whale Coast, which includes places like Hermanus and Gansbaai to the East.

Kleinmond offers a variety of activities for both nature lovers and sports enthusiats. Perhaps you would prefer to take long walks along the shore, or maybe just sunbathe, or have a refreshing swim, or you can opt to watch whales frolocking in the shallow water near the beach. The harbour also offers quaint restaurants and shops.

ROOMS:
Each of our comfortable rooms leads onto the courtyard and adjacent swimming pool where you can also relax after a day of enjoying the beautiful surrounds. The swimming pool has a lovely covered patio with a big fireplace where you can have a traditional South African barbeque. Every room is decorated with lovely antique furniture, but also boast modern conveniences such as Wi-Fi internet access, a television, fridge and other amenities like a kettle and tea tray. Together with the fire-place in the lounge, the Aga stove not only contributes to the unique old time character of Elephant Rock, but it also ensures a warm house during the wintertime! The Beach Room has a real feeling of space and light with a white painted floor and ceiling. It offers a lovely view of the Kogelberg Mountain and Kleinmond’s main swimming beach. On its romantic wooden balcony you can enjoy a sundowner with the smell of the sea and the view of the majestic mountain to add to the atmosphere.This spacious room with its dreamy light and airy beach look has a king-size bed and comfortable en suite bathroom with a shower. The other 4 rooms are simular to this one and all are adjacent to the courtyard.
