Description

Fossil Hills Farm Cottages is situated on the Thornvilla Farm, in the Breede Valley between Robertson and McGregor. This working wine farm forms part of the McGregor Winery. Grapes, plums, apricots and various vegetables are harvested each year. The name ‘Fossil Hills’, comes from the fossils that were and are still found on the farm which dates back to the fish age of 355 million years ago.

Self-catering accommodation is offered in a number of air-conditioned cottages and houses. The cottages are set at different locations on the farm, ensuring privacy. All of the cottages and houses have their own well-equipped kitchen facilities, living area and braai outdoor braai facilities. All linen and bath towels are provided. Each unit has its own KolKol wood-fired hot tub and firewood is supplied.

Most units are pet-friendly, except for Stone Cottage, Pinotage House, and Lavender Cottage. Mountain bikes, kayaks, and fishing rods are available for guests to use in each of the cottages. Access to free Wi-Fi is available in all the units except the Stone Cottage and Lavender Cottage units. A full selection of DStv channels is available in Pinotage House, Tango Guest House, Aloe Cottage, and Lavender Cottage.

The area offers many outdoor activities such as fruit orchards, olive groves, vineyards, walking and hiking trails, mountain biking, 4x4 trails as well as bird watching in Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. The hosts offer wine walks and guests are welcome to enquire for more information. Guests can also enjoy the pottery studio, art galleries, and cob house building or enjoy a meal at the local coffee shops, restaurants, or pubs.
