Heronmoor Retreat boasts excellent Drakensberg accommodation. It is located in Natal Midlands, a sought after region of Drakensberg.

Nestled in a tranquil valley in the Kamberg region of KwaZulu Natal, and enjoying stunning views of the Giants Castle and the Drakensberg mountains, Heronmoor Retreat is the perfect place to take a break.

Our self-catering cottages make a wonderful base, whether you want to relax and enjoy the magnificent mountain views and walks, make the most of outdoor activities or explore the Midlands Meander.

Heronmoor farm is just over two hours from Durban and four and a half hours from Johannesburg.

There are 3 well equipped comfortable cottages which can accommodate 17 people in total. Heronmoor cottage sleeps 3 adults and has a covered private patio with hammocks looking up to Giant's Castle.

The Farmhouse sleeps 10 and has a large kitchen and lounge with wonderful views of the mountain with fireplace for winter nights. Harleigh cottage is close to the farmhouse and sleeps 4 in two bedrooms.

The cottages are situated on a 300 hectare farm and there are two dams on the property. One is stocked with trout for fly fishers to enjoy.
All our cottages have spectacular views looking on to the main berg escarpment. Guests are also invited to make use of our gym and meditation room.

The venue is also suitable for small conferences or strategic retreats (up to 12 people. For these events catering is provided featuring fresh organic produce expertly prepared.

For those with an active bent, there are some great walks on the farm, not too strenuous and you can mountain bike on the farm roads. We have a ruined settler cottage on the property where there are braai facilities. There are horseriding trails close by as well as a 9 hole golf course and bowls.

We are also well placed for day trips into the Drakensberg Park with 3 entrances within 30 minutes and the area is particularly well known for its rock art - you can even see some on the farm! Sani Pass, the Battlefields, Weenen Game Reserve and the Midlands Meander are also good options for day excursions.
