Impangele

Swellendam is a town steeped in history - the third oldest settlement in South Africa; you can visit the Drostdy Museum and Mayfield House to find out more about the role that Swellendam played in the growth of the country. But more than that, Swellendam is a place of extreme beauty, and has marvellous opportunities for hikers, bikers, bird watchers, wildlife spotters and nature lovers. Mountain trails, dams to swim in and 3 national parks (Bontebok, Marloth and De Hoop) to see endangered species. A short drive can take you to some of the most superb wine farms, another drive to beaches to see whales, and to Cape Agulhas to plant one foot in each ocean, and another drive to see the quaint historical mission village of Suurbraak. There is also the stunning Tradouw Pass. within walking distance of Impangele is a fabulous Berry and Liqueur estate - after trying their delicious jams at breakfast take a stroll and taste some of their liqueurs, pickles and jellies. Really unique. Like Golf? Two minutes walk from Impangele is the most beautiful nine hole golf course in South Africa.
Swellendam has a great choice of restaurants - the town is a very welcoming one, and is notable for its lack of crime and friendly atmosphere.
