TravelGround User Reviews:“Lovely position right on the river. Roy, the gentleman who looks after the house is great.”
Had a really nice time, comfortable accommodation, beautiful views, and wild animals roaming the garden. The children loved it too!

“RECOMMEND ONLY BECAUSE OF LOCATION”
Place was dirty apon arrival. Dirty dishes covered with ants, dirty fridge full of old open food, beds slept in and unmade which meant dirty used bedding. We had to clean the place ourselves before we could unpack our groceries. Could not get proper clean bedding as the cleaner Roy was not at the house, David arranged to borrow bedding from another lady, which did not fit as it was all for single or double beds and all the beds at Jacob's Ladder is king size, but we made a plan, at least it was clean bedding. The viewing deck was great, needs a bit of shade though, could not use the umbrella as it is broken. Place could do with a microwave. Oven needs to be checked as a huge flame ball exploded out of the oven in my mothers face when we used it, luckily she was not burnt badly. The front of the house is spoiled by the fence of branches and twigs around it as the animals cannot walk in the front yard where a person sits most of the time. Place was not cleaned inside on Sunday as Roy forgot his keys and could not get into the house. I did receive a R1700.00 refund because of the state of the place when we arrived. Other wise had a great time, will come back to Jacob's Ladder again only because of the location.

Were all very impressed and it was brilliant.
I would like to say thank you very much for the opportunity that we had to stay at your place this week end. it was fantastic. My family (mom, dad, uncle, aunt, gran, wife & kids) were all very impressed and it was brilliant. The place was more than we expected and the deck is...... well it speaks for itself. We had a great time on the Tour you arranged for us. The Guesthouses were very comfortable and just right for our holiday budget. Special mention should go to Hans in Stellenbosch, who could not have been more friendly and welcoming. (The final one in Joburg was not so good, but it was only one night!). The internal flights were excellent and much cheaper than we would have arranged from the UK.
The arrangements for the 2 Tests were excellent, with Hospitality and transport all taken care of. We really appreciated you joining us for the matches and making sure everything went to plan. We also appreciated your recommendations of bars and restaurants which always lived up to our expectation! You were good enough to introduce us to your friends and they were very welcoming and hospitable, inviting us into their home to eat. We would not hesitate in asking you to help us again, nor in recommending you to our friends. Mike and Toby Cutt - June 2010
"When we first approached Iaan and Ingrid about a holiday in South Africa we had only a sketchy idea of an itinerary. We knew we wanted to do a safari and we knew that we wanted to see as much of the country as we could reasonably expect to see in three weeks. Using their knowledge of SA Iaan and Ingrid put us together a wonderful, unforgettable holiday.
We spent the first week in two parks, Marloth and Kruger, we stayed in tents and chalets. Ingrid did all the catering and Iaan BBQ’d (you haven’t tasted a BBQ until you’ve tasted Iaan’s). Their skill and expertise meant that we saw so much more than many other people. After the fist week we flew to Cape Town, picked up our hire car and drove the Garden Route. We stayed at fabulous places: a guest house overlooking Table Mountain, on a vineyard, in a castle on a beach, up in a wooden tree house in the tree tops and our favourite a little Kliphuis by the side of a lake, miles from anywhere to name just a few. All these places, including the internal flights and car hire, were arranged by Iaan and Ingrid. We had a fabulous holiday, by consulting with us about our likes and dislikes it was tailor made to suit us and Iaan and Ingrid were the perfect hosts and organisers. In the summer we are travelling again with I&I Holidays, this time to Mozambique and Swaziland, we can’t wait.” Derek and Marion Bonner from the UK. Marion and Derek Bonner - July 2009
“Our holiday to South Africa arranged by Iaan and Ingrid was the most wonderful experience. The attention to detail was superb. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. We stayed in many different places, from tents to castles on the beach, all fantastic, but all so different. We are hoping to return again. Thank you Iaan and Ingrid for showing us your beautiful country and making us feel so special!”

Me and my girlfriend were among the first to use I&I holiday. We were very impressed by the commitment shown by our hosts towards making sure we had an experience of a life time. They were incredibly accommodative and helpful and their intricate subject knowledge second to none (and my job is Head of Geography). Their enthusiasm for the environment and wildlife was really contagious and their emphasis on preservation and conservation issues broadened our perspectives. We had such a great time and we would love to do it again! Lars Otterbu, London, UK. Lars Otterbru - July 2007 |
