Located just 20 minutes drive from Cape Town along an ocean road is the still active fishing village of Hout Bay. It has a lively community with a beautiful beach where the whales and dolphins play, as well as being host to some of the best seafood restaurants in the area on the quay and a good selection of international cuisine via other restaurants in the town where guests can shop. There are many mountain and forest hiking trails available at whatever level. Cruises to seal island run daily. Hout Bay is home to the famous World of Birds Sanctuary. There is a lively Sunday morning market with local crafts and jewellery on sale and horse rides for the children. It is a great jumping off point for the area as well as enjoying a peace and tranquility not found in busy Cape Town. Five minutes from Hout Bay are located Groot and Klein Constantia, two of the oldest vineyards in the region.
