Pension Idube is a charming early-1900’s home in the leafy suburb of Auckland Park, Johannesburg, only 4 blocks from Melville’s trendy 7th Street with its cosmopolitan restaurants, bars, coffee shops, antique stores and craft shops. Having been around for many years, we've gained a stirling reputation for providing clean, quirky and very comfortable accommodation at budget prices, with excellent guest satisfaction.

Recently renovated and redecorated, the Pension now offers gorgeous rooms with exquisite attention to detail, and absolutely delicious breakfasts. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile, and always with a smile!

We are in the ideal position for academic visitors to the University of Johannesburg and Wits (University of the Witwatersrand). We are a 5 minute drive from the SABC, Johannesburg CBD and Braamfontein. The shopping meccas of Sandton and Rosebank are an easy 15 minute drive and Soweto is about 20 minutes away. Our backpacker friends have said that the Pension is a great base from which to explore vibey Johannesburg and its surrounds! A ‘Pension’ is a French word for a small hotel offering personalised service with a breakfast offering to weary travellers. And ‘Idube’ is the Zulu word for Zebra.
