St Lucia Wilds

The town is surrounded by coastal thicket, forest, dunes and grassland and marshland. The area is small enough that you can walk around the town in 3 hours. We share our living space with wild creatures wonderful. The town has the Indian Ocean on the east, the lake on the south and western sides and the Wetland Park north.

It is fresh air and greenery all around. Climate is sub-tropical with rain all year peaking in spring (September to February) and summer. Winters are warm days and cool nights. Summer is hot and humid. The area around town belongs to the Wetland Park Authority and is protected area, so no buildings etc. on the beach. There are trails that can be walked unguided and many birding hot spots.

The town section has many restaurants, small supermarkets, coffee shops, currency exchange, post office, library, curio and clothing shops, pharmacy (chemist), bait & tackle shops, Wimpy, open market, petrol (gas) stations, laundrettes, reptile centre, hairdresser and beauty salons.
