Set in spacious surroundings within the tranquil and secure equestrian suburb of Beaulieu Country Estate you will find Thatch and Thorn, a small and private bed and breakfast style guesthouse. Four charming suites open onto either an individual deck or patio from which guests can stroll out into the spacious, leafy garden. This is home to an amazing variety of indigenous birds or you may watch the contented munching of horses in the paddocks close by. Breakfast caters for everyone’s taste, served on the main patio overlooking the pool and garden whilst dinners can be arranged on request.

Beaulieu borders on Kyalami Equestrian Park (GHS), where the major events in Gauteng take place and boasts delightful walks and bridle trails as well as an extensive bird sanctuary for enthusiasts. A short distance away is the Midrand business district, centrally located between both Johannesburg and Pretoria cities, and close to major highways leading to OR Tambo Airport (25km) or Lanseria Airport (17km). The completion of the Gautrain Terminal in Midrand will mean a 10-minute drive to the guesthouse.

Thatch and Thorn has an elegant yet earthy ambience which, combined with the highest standards and personal attention, appeals to the most discerning guests. Each suite has been tastefully decorated and includes either rain shower or bath as well as satellite television, safe boxes, wireless internet access, heaters, fans, tea and coffee facilities and bar fridge. Two suites occupy the top level where guests can enjoy the distinctively African open-thatch atmosphere throughout the rest of the house

3. Mosu (Umbrella Thorn) and
4. Mokata (Monkey Thorn)
