The Colonial on Arundel is a magnificent old colonial home, dating back to the 1930s, set in the heart of the Sundays River Valley in Addo, and owned by your hosts, Molly and Conor O’Hagan Ward, former hoteliers and game lodge owners.

Addo lies in a world famous citrus producing part of South Africa and Arundel is the name of the working farm on which The Colonial is situated. Wander through the citrus orchards at your leisure and encounter the peace and tranquility of the abundant bird-life on the Coerney River, which borders the property.

In a malaria free area, it is just 12 kms. from the Addo Elephant National Park, and many other private game reserves which offer you the Big Five right on your doorstep.The owner,
Conor, is a qualified and highly experienced guide who undertakes trips to the Addo Elephant National Park in an air-conditioned Landrover Defender.

The Zuurberg Mountains, just 30 kms. from your doorstep, and which can be seen in the distance, offer hiking and horse trails, and elephant back safaris can now be booked. During the month of October, the valley is home to the famous Addo Rose Day.

Close-by are the Daniell Cheetah Breeding Farm and the Addo Reptile and Raptor Park.

The Colonial offers understated luxury in two garden facing suites, both with private entrance - The Fitzpatrick Suite and The Kirkwood Suite. Each suite comprises a bedroom, with queen sized double bed, dressed with crisp percale linen, fitted dual electric blanket and en suite to a deluxe shower and double vanity area provided with luxury guest amenities. Elegantly appointed, with the emphasis on your comfort and relaxation, both the units offer a separate lounge in which to relax with coffee table books. There is the added pleasure of complimentary tea / coffee facilities and a courtesy bar fridge. The rooms are fitted with fan, and air-conditioning providing warmth for the cooler winter nights and cooling for the warmer African days. A hairdryer, free wifi & private safe complete the facilities.

Both units face on to the beautifully landscaped garden and each unit has a private guest splash pool, with swimming towels provided. Parking is provided close to the units.

A farmhouse breakfast, included in the tariff, is served in the garden-facing guest dining room, overlooking the orchards, from 07h30 to 09h00. A two or three-course set menu dinner is available on request but prior notice must be afforded Molly.Special note is made of guest dietary requirement
