Driving Directions:

Directions to drive by car from Johannesburg International Airport to The Nest Hotel:
Driving distance is 400 km driving time is 4 hrs.

1) Leave Johannesburg Airport on the R24 towards Johannesburg and flow towards the left into the N12 some 13 km later, staying in the second to left lane.

2) Some 3 km later follow the signs to the N3 – Durban / Kimberly to the left on this four lane High Way.

3) Some 23 km later, and past some large cement works (PPC ) concrete silos on your right, you keep to the left of the Highway towards Durban. The nest 40 km, well after Heidelberg is Notorious for very strict speed enforcement (120km/h.) and camera fines.

4) Then on to Villiers, Warden, Harrismith, up and down Van Reenen’s pass and 16km after the Tugela plaza tollgate turn to the left, away from the mountains towards Ladysmith and ‘Central Berg’.

5) Some 5 km later a sharp right turn onto the R600 towards Spionkop and to Winterton (60 km).

6) As you get over a bridge and into Winterton, you turn right over a level rail crossing and bridge towards ‘Central Berg’, still on the R600.

7) Follow the R600 for some 14 km to a stop street. Cross over into the Champagne Valley, (R 600), some 5 km later you will find The Nest on the right hand side.


Directions to drive by car from Durban international airport to The Nest:
Driving distance is 200km and driving time is 2hrs.30minutes.

1) Leave Durban airport and turn right at the major traffic lights just outside the airport into a dual carrige way and move to the left lane towards the N2 after the next traffic light, which is very close to the first traffic light; and drive onto the N2, the ‘South – North’ highway. (Do not take the road to Durban.)

2) Carry on for ca 10 minutes until you get to the Pietermaritzburg / Johannesburg turnoff to the left onto the N3.

3) Stay on the N3 and drive through Pietermaritzburg and some 50 km later through ‘Toll gate’ at Mooiriver.

4) Ca 20 km later, after ‘Escourt South’ take the highway Exit 179 towards ‘Giants Castle’ / ‘Central Berg’ to the left and drive carefully for the next ca 35km through a Zulu area, (Goats, Cows, Children, Taxis), until you come to the R 600 and turn there at ‘THOKOSIZA’ to the left into the Champagne Valley. Ca 5km later you will find The Nest on the right hand side.
