Description
Established as a guest house in 1996, the house was built in 1928 and restored in 1995. Valley Guest House is centrally situated on the Baakens River Valley in a cul de sac overlooking the Settlers Park Nature reserve. It is within easy walking distance of St Georges Park Cricket Grounds and the hospital.
The accommodation offers a twin room, a terrace room, standard double room and a budget double room, we have 3 bedrooms which can sleep 3 guests in each, and a double room which can sleep 2 guests. Each room has tea- and coffee- making facilties. The twin room has twin beds plus a single bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower-over-bath. The terrace room has it's own terrace, a king bed, a single bed, an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, the dining area is up a spiral staircase. The double room has a king bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower-over-bath. The budget double room has a private bathroom, double bed plus 1 single bed and tea and coffee facilities.
Parking for one car per room is available at no extra charge.
Relax on the covered verandah and enjoy the bird life in the nearby enormous Coral tree. Cape White Eye, various Sun Birds, Knysna Turaco and even the Crowned Eagle are regularly spotted.
Local attractions include the Central Area English Settler Cottages, the historic St. Georges Park with its Victorian Conservatory, Nelson Mandela Bay Art Museum, Fort Frederick, the Donkin Memorial, the Campanile and the beautifully restored civic buildings.
The guest house is only 40 km from the Addo Elephant Park and informal visits can be arranged. Our beautiful beaches and casino are a few minutes drive away, while the Garden Route and Tsitsikamma National Park are an easy 2 hour drive.
There are two resident dogs and one cat on the property which sleep in the out buildings together with the owners. They are not allowed in the guest bedrooms.
