By international standards the Central Business District of
Cape Town is relatively small and the pace is often considered to be considerably slower than in
Johannesburg.
Everything here is within walking distance and this region of
Cape Town is best covered by foot. The city centre is a mix-up of beautiful old colonial buildings and historical points of interest on the one hand, and modern corporate towers and vibrant night life on the other.
A programme of CCTV cameras and a strong police presence has ensured that this area has remained safer than other CBDs in
South Africa.
