East London is South Africa's only river port, and the second-largest industrial centre in the province of the Eastern Cape. East London is a good base from which to explore the shores of the former Transkei. Notorious for its shipwrecks, the city is located on the Indian Ocean coast, between the Buffalo River & the Nahoon River with a population of 700,000.
The main languages spoken in the city are English, Afrikaans and Xhosa. The city has got a very mild climate with an average high of 23 degrees Celsius (73 degrees Fahrenheit) and a low of 14 degrees Celsius (57 degrees Fahrenheit). The region is also known as the "Wild Coast".
The East London Airport has daily flights to all the major cities in South Africa.
