Hluhluwe is a small town in the north of KwaZulu Natal that is situated on the banks of the Hluhluwe river between the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and Hluluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve. The Zulu name refers to the thorny climbers that were over-growing along the Hluhluwe river. Cattle, timber, sugarcane and pineapples are farmed in the area and up to 95% of South Africa's pineapples are produced in this area.
The region between the Tugela river and the Lebombo mountains is the home of the proud Zulu warrior. This is the place to gain an understanding of the cultural history of this powerful nation whose status is still revered today.
