Cape Town accommodation. Clifton Beach, at the foot of Lion's Head, is one of the trendiest summer spots in Cape Town and is an incredible place from which to view the Cape sunset. Clifton is comprised of 4 smaller beaches, each of which is divided by boulders and attracts a different crowd. For example Clifton 4th beach is the most family friendly beach, but 3rd beach is much more fashionable. Beaches on the west coast of the Cape Peninsula tend to be colder than their counterparts on the east coast, but they are typically more sheltered from the Cape's gusty southeaster wind.
Only 4th beach has parking and other facilities, so access can be a problem in the height of summer – Camps Bay Beach is a far more developed tourism experience.
