Gansbaai accommodation. Commando Drift Nature Reserve originated its name from the original farm that was owned by Voortrekker leader Hendrik Potgieter and is situated 58km from Cradock and 40km from Tarkastad. This reverse covers and area of 5 983 ha, of which the lake takes up 950ha when full. Some of the wildlife species that can be spotted in this reserve are cape mountain zebra, black wildebeest, red hartebeest, springbok, kudu and Mau. Activities that are available at the reserve are game viewing, mountain biking, 4x4 trails, picnic sites, camping and caravans, boating, swimming and hiking.
