Along with the two major celebrations held annually, the
Drakensberg Boys Choir hold a concert every Wednesday afternoon that are local events that are not to be missed. The Drankensberg Boys Choir mesmerises the audience with their music that is one of a kind and the assorted musical styles demonstrate the ability to perform any type of show.
The choir is internationally famous for its African flair and for dramatising favourite works such as Shosholoza and Night Sounds. The students are also known to perform a Gumboot Dance that was created in the mines of
South Africa and other traditional African style entertainment, but also excel at more classical renditions, such as Handel’s “Messiah”, Mozart’s “Requiem”, Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms”, Bach’s “Magnificat” and many more works of this stature.
The school is located on an estate of 100 acres and is structured as a farm school. Recently, the school hall was expanded from an 80-seater to a hall that can now seat 600 people, complete with theatrical sound and lighting. This auditorium is easily filled at each performance.
