Bloemfontein accommodation. Now known as 'Naval Hill', a British Naval cannon was mounted here during the South African war. Between 1928 and 1972, this hill was also host to an observatory that discover over 7000 new stars. Today the old observatory is used as a theatre!
Much like Signal Hill over the Cape Town City Bowl, Naval hill provides a spectacular view over Bloemfontein. The main attraction here, however, is Franklin Nature Reserve's array of wildlife, game, and indigenous plant life.
For safety's sake, it is advisable to restrict game viewing here to daylight hours only.
