Welcome to the Giant's Castle information page - in addition to guides like this post we also list a large range of hotels, B&B's, guesthouses and self-catering establishments. Please view our Southern Drakensberg page if you're looking for
Southern Drakensberg accommodation. With a height of 3314 meters and a setting as beautiful as that of Giant’s Castle, you wouldn’t want to miss visiting this peak.
The surrounding reserve was created in 1903 with the intention of preventing the extinction of eland. Today, the Giant’s Castle is considered to have one of the largest eland populations in the world and the reserve is also home to some more endangered species of wildlife.
Some 200 pairs of the endangered bearded vulture (lammer-geier) can be found here, and can be viewed from a camouflaged hide. The ability to see these endangered species of wildlife from close quarters makes Giant’s castle a must-visit attraction!
