Cape Town accommodation. On most days, the Grand Parade is a parking lot that occasionally hosts an unspectacular market, but it was once a parade ground for colonial troops and, in 1990, hosted around 250 thousand people the hear Nelson Mandela's address from the Cape Town City Hall balcony after his release from Robben Island. This has also become Cape Town's gathering place for marches in protest or celebration.
