Whales from the air at Hermanu
Welcome to the Hermanus Whale Watching attraction page - in addition to guides like this article we also list a broad range of hotels, B&B's, guesthouses and self-catering establishments. Please check out our Hermanus page if you're looking for
Hermanus accommodation. Hermanus is most famous for the spectacular whale viewing that can be had here annually. Southern right whales grace Walker bay from June to December after returning from their refreshing trip to the Antarctic, with guaranteed daily sightings either by walking, boating or a whale flight by plane.
During the months of September and October, the bay is teeming with whales and new born calves to the point that tourists are guaranteed daily sightings. Hermanus employs an official whale crier who wanders around Main Road wearing a board detailing the best spots for viewing each day. The crier is hard to miss as, besides the signboard around his neck, he also blows a loud kelp horn! You can often find him near to the Hermanus Harbour Museum.
We also offer a perfect selection of
South Africa accommodation - let us know where you would like to go!
