St Lucia accommodation. An indigenous coastal woodland forest on the lake embankment that was established by KZN Wildlife Honorary members and now belongs to the Wetland Park. This forest trail is a birding hot spot. It is only about 1.5 km circular path but leads to the waters edge and the road to the lake mouth area. The path is flat with a few low hanging branches and portruding roots. Also found during daytime will be red duikers, bushbuck, tree squirels, vervet monkeys, banded mongoose, many butterflies and moths and some really awesome huge trees.
Do not walk this trail after sunset at hippo also use the forest at night.
