Pretoria accommodation. The Voortrekker Monument and museum commemorate the Afrikaner pioneers who trekked from the Cape in the 1830s to escape British domination. The structure features a cenotaph in the Hall of Heroes which is lit by a beam of sunlight at noon on 16 December the day of the Battle of Blood River.
