This is one of the most beautiful spots in West Coast with a view overlooking Table Mountain and the Hottentots Holland Mountains. The Ostrich Show Ranch is a large ostrich farm that offers tours of these flightless birds where visitors can learn about ostrich breeding, feeding and other activities. Visitors can also shop at the leather and curio stores, and dine at a restaurant which specialises in meals cooked with ostrich meat!

Tours of the Ostrich Show Ranch

Guided tours of the West Coast Ostrich Show Ranch are best booked in advance, however, for the general public, tours are run every half an hour. It’s a 45 minutes tour which includes a visit to the cactus factory, display room and the leather factory. The tour guide gives an in-depth tour of the farm, laden with facts and information. The ostrich show includes an ostrich back ride, standing on ostrich eggs and feeding the birds. It is not an uncommon sight to witness a newly
hatched chick or an egg being laid while on the tour, and children are
kept fascinated by the huge ostriches.

Birds at the Ostrich Show Ranch

The ranch boasts over 220 birds which including many different varieties of ostriches, including West Coast white ostriches, dwarf ostriches and black-neck ostriches. Visitors can spot ostriches ranging from one day old chick to 20
year old breeding pairs. The ranch is also home to other birds such as emus, peacocks and rheas.

and is one of the the West Coasts top draw-cards. The owner Gavin and
his son are more than pleased to give a warm welcome to all their
visitors and take them on an enthusiastic tour of their family-run
business. They are professional yet friendly which makes it even more
delightful to visit their ranch.
