The Plett Puzzle Park is a fun-filled gem located just off of the N2 about 10 km from Plettenberg Bay. The park is an enriching old-school family experience that the age of iPads and DVDs too often neglects. We had the pleasure of meeting the ever-friendly Colin and Wilane McLeod who have lived on the farm since 1983. Colin designed all of the puzzles in the park himself and often reconfigures the puzzles so that returning visitors can experience something new!

Puzzle gift shop and Kids area

The puzzle gift shop is located at the entrance and will be your first port of call when visiting the park; a beautiful garden with lunch-benches and umbrellas completes the picture. The gift shop serves coffee and tea and will soon feature a full café menu. You can also purchase classic puzzle gifts and souvenirs here for your friends or children!

Once you’ve entered the park proper you’ll find the kids’ area of the Puzzle Park with tons of games, puzzles, and obstacles to challenge and entertain younger children; including a rope-maze.

3D Maze

park2

This was our first full-sized maze experience and it was surprisingly challenging! What started off as a leisurely stroll down the wood-walled pathways, quickly turned into a hurried jog as we tried to show off our navigational prowess; a lack thereof became apparent. Shouting to each other about our latest discoveries of paths NOT to take, we began to make some progress. I felt humbled as we finally made it to the first objective after some 30 minutes. Despite the rustic appearance this maze is truly a world-class experience.

Forest Puzzle Walk

park3

As we walked past the maze on our way down to the forest, the afternoon sun lit up the veld on our right. Fixed to the fence-posts separating the path and the veld are boards with mind-bending puzzles that taunt passers-by. We entered the forest and were introduced to the demo station by our friendly guide, who explained that we had only 5 minutes to complete the puzzle before the board would flip and we would lose our pieces. Walking through the forest was great and the various puzzles were comprised of a good balance between moderately challenging and fiendishly so. Completion of a puzzle rewards you with a token; and if you collect enough of these you’ll get a free coffee or cooldrink!

The park is a wonderful hidden gem and is highly recommended for those looking to have fun with family or friends. Much like a good Pixar movie, the Plett Puzzle Park is a fantastic experience for kids and adults alike.
