"Wakkerstroom se vriendelike mense en die landelike atmosfeer laat mens sommer welkom en veilig voel. 'n Ideale basis vir 'n voëlkyk besoek. Die verskeidenheid voëls in en om die dorp se grasveld en vleiland habitat is altyd 'n aangename verrassing."
"Bird hides baie goed net jammer roetes na hides is baie toegegroei en uitsig word ook versper deur riette. Gastehuise kan ook dink aan afslag vir pensionarisse."

"Beautiful village nestled in a valley with stunning grasslands all round. Great for walking and cycling. Wetlands all around for spectacular birding. Plenty of good eateries, bakery cheese and dairy shop, even a fresh veg shop!"
"Wakkerstroom has the potential to become a wonderful weekend or midweek stay. The Municipal Manager and Committee should be held accountable for a town with minimum street names mostly missing. Municipal buildings and the grounds need to be cleaned. Roads ought to be properly maintained. There should be a Ratepayers Association with the clout to petition against what could become a wonderful town. Also what does not help midweek stayers is that most of the shops are closed. Finally, with the unemployed, surely there must be a municipal unemployment incentive to clean the town and provide a employment opportunity incentive upskilling which can be a positive plus to boosting tourism."

"Lovely rural town with cows, horses, sheep wandering the roads. Excellent birding area. Restaurants we ate at were excellent, both for food and price. People were also so friendly. A great place to unwind."
"There are not much to do, but the interesting shops are definitely increasing, as well as the restaurants. It is a quiet place, with lots of beautiful views of the mountains and nature. A place where you can relax and get away from all the city rush."
