Alpha is situated on a quiet street in Sutherland, Northern Cape. Sutherland is the coldest town in South Africa, and it lies in the western Roggeveld Mountains in the Karoo.
This cosy cottage can accommodate up to 4 guests in 2 en-suite bedrooms. The main bedroom is furnished with a double bed while the second bedroom has 2 single beds. Each en-suite bathroom is fitted with a shower, basin, and toilet.
The cottage has an open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, fridge, a gas stove, kettle, crockery, and cutlery. Outside, braai facilities are available. The lounge area has a fireplace for the cold winter nights. Secure parking, DStv and free Wi-Fi are also available.
Sutherland is well-known for its large telescope at the observatory, a mere 15 km from town, where day and night tours are also available. The museum, the birthplace of the Afrikaans writers and poets, NP van Wyk Louw and his brother, WEG Louw are worth a visit, as is the Dutch Reform Church, with its beautiful organ and history of the Anglo-Boer War. The Planetarium in town shows interesting 3D films and there are other private stargazing opportunities as well.
