Description

Alpine Swift Trails is a high altitude training facility situated on a farm just outside the town of Rhodes in the Eastern Cape Highlands. The facility is ideal to enhance personal sports performance in a natural and clean environment, away from the busy city life and its distractions.

The accommodation comprises 6 rooms and a campsite. Each room can accommodate 4 guests. The Quattro rooms contain 2 bunk beds, and are built around the swimming pool. The rooms have access to a shared bathroom. The Duo rooms also face the swimming pool, and contain double beds and bunk beds, as well as an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. All rooms have access to a shared lounge with a fireplace, a dining room and kitchen. No towels or toiletries are supplied in any of the rooms.

The campsite comprises ablution facilities, a camp gazebo, structured deck with a braai area as well as plug points and lights. Guests are required to bring their own camping equipment. This campsite is next to the main road leading from Rhodes to Maclear. Wild camping are available along the stretch of the Bell River or in the mountain. There are no plug points at the wild camping spots. The ablution facilities for wild camping are at the main reception building where there are plug points available if needed.

Guests are welcome to make use of the swimming pool and the braai area and have access to secure parking. Other on-site facilities include coaching, a tennis court, a gym and hiking trails and fly-fishing. With a base altitude of 1820 m above sea level, up to 2725 m above sea level, the facility offers training for on- and off-road running or mountain biking.

The farm is situated just 4 km from Rhodes Village on the district road that leads to Maclear via the renowned Naude’s Neck Pass. Guests should take note that all roads to Rhodes are gravel and the owner must be contacted regarding conditions and best routes. Google maps does not give accurate traveling time or safest routes. There is a basic grocery shop on the premises. There are pets on the premises: dogs, cats and peacock which could make noise.
