Description

Amber Lagoon is a backpacker's dream, buried in the heart of the Klein Karoo and bordered by the Swartberg Mountains and the Gamka Nature Reserve. It is just off Route 62, between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp. Surrounded by ostrich farms, Amber Lagoon is a green oasis with an abundance of plants, trees and bird life. Here, backpackers can truly relax and enjoy the real beauty of South African nature.

We have an awesome selection of various accommodations, including a self-catering cottage, reed-huts, safari tents, dorms. and campgrounds, all with stunning views. Splash in the big pool, enjoy home-cooked meals, braai with your friends, sleep under the stars and see for yourself why this area is so special. It's almost impossible to list all the exciting activities on site and in the area. Guests are encouraged to check out the ostrich tours, hot air balloon rides, and the Meerkat Adventure tours. Otherwise, go explore the Swartberg Pass, the Gamkaskloof valley, Congo Caves or the Gamka Nature Reserve.
