Ambleside Lodge is a lovely berg retreat nestled at the foot of the majestic Southern Drakensberg mountains, surrounded by shady trees and meandering streams. Ambleside Lodge is 3 hours from Durban, and with its elevated position on a 10-hectare estate, offers views of both Rhino Peak and Garden Castle mountains.

Self-catering accommodation is offered in an 8-sleeper lodge and a quaint thatched cottage. The lodge can accommodate up to 8 guests, and comprises 3 en-suite bedrooms and a smaller fourth bedroom. The quaint thatched cottage offers a lovely country feel, and can accommodate up to 8 guests in 3 bedrooms in the main cottage building. There is also an exterior garden cottage with a queen-size bed, booked with the main cottage. Guests have access to braai facilities and secure parking.

Wander down pathways and discover mountain pools and bushman caves, while experiencing the Drakensberg at its best. There are a variety of activities in the surrounding area for guests to enjoy, such as horse riding, trout fishing, bird watching, mountain biking, fly-fishing, swimming, cycling, and tennis. This is a restful retreat ideal for the whole family; spend your days relaxing next to the dam while reading a book, going for hikes, or enjoying a glass of wine next to the fire. The town of Underberg is 35 minutes away, and offers cosy coffee shops and gift shops.
