Naturally shaded among beautiful Milkwood Trees on the Ballots Bay hillside, you will discover a perfectly secluded, modern-day, fairytale treehouse. Ballots Tree House is a unique and charming wooden cabin set near the foot of Ballots Bay overlooking the sheltered pebble beach and Meul River. This self-catering gem comfortably accommodates up to 4 adults and 2 children, you couldn’t imagine a more natural and tranquil environment. Ballots Bay is located in a private nature reserve, a nature lover’s paradise, abundant with a variety of wildlife, birds and fynbos.
The treehouse is accessed via steep wooden stairs; you might be slightly out of breath when you reach the top but you will instantly fall in love with this piece of heaven. The spacious, secluded deck overlooks the rugged beach and river. This is the perfect place to enjoy sundowners, relax or braai.
Inside you will find a charmingly furnished open-plan living area with a lounge, dining room and a kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a double-door fridge-freezer, microwave, oven and hob, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, washing machine and a tumble-dryer. The lounge features a flat-screen smart TV with a DVD player.
On the downstairs lower level, there are 3 cosy bedrooms. The first bedroom contains a double bed, an en-suite toilet and a luxurious corner bath ideal for honeymooners. The second bedroom contains a double bed and the third smaller bedroom, which is ideally suited to 2 children, has a bunk bed. The second bathroom contains a shower, a toilet, and a washbasin. There is a guest toilet with a washbasin.
While we welcome children of all ages, the treehouse is not toddler-friendly, particularly around the deck areas and the stairs going up to the house. Should you wish to bring little ones, please keep a close, watchful eye on them. The one end of the balcony at Tree House is open and can be a hazard for toddling toddlers. The home is secure when the door to the balcony is closed and we ask parents to please be extra vigilant as the Tree House is situated on top of the forest canopy.
If you are the adventurous type, there are plenty of walks and hikes within Ballots Nature Reserve including a forest walk and also a steep hike down to a rock pool. The pebble beach is sheltered by steep cliffs on either side where you could cast a line into the ocean. You can also enjoy a braai at the communal stone braai area, hopefully with your catch of the day.
