Situated at the foot of the Soetmuisberg mountains, Bergen Dam Cottage is a comfortably furnished worker’s cottage for up to 6 people, just 20 km from Bredasdorp

Overlooking the veld, mountains, and dam it was named after, the cottage is off the grid, and is powered by gas, paraffin, and has a wood-burning donkey for hot water.

The cottage comprises 2 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. One of the rooms contains a double bed, and the other is furnished with a double bed, as well as a bunk bed. Both rooms have showers only en suite. For convenience linen and towels are provided, and guests please need to bring their own swimming towels.

The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, a gas fridge, as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities, and meals can be enjoyed at the dining table. Paraffin lamps are also provided, and guests can relax in front of the fireplace.

The living area opens onto a covered stoep, and guests can make use of the braai facilities in the sheltered lapa. Wood, firelighters and matches are provided. The perimeter is enclosed, and pets are welcome. Please note, there is a gravel road leading to the accommodation.

Guests can cool down in the dam, and the farm offers various activities such as walking, mountain biking, birdwatching and canoeing. Guests can also stop by the dairy to collect a ration of fresh milk, and with prior arrangement, children can sign up for a crash course in dairy farming.
