Description

Bijou Bush Retreat is a privately owned exclusive self-catering eco-bush retreat set in the beautiful bush surroundings of Cullinan, Gauteng. The 21.5-hectare property is home to a variety of bird life and free-roaming wildlife including nyala, impala, wildebeest, meerkat, and duiker. There are also various farm animals including pigs, ducks, chicken and geese.

The Bijou Bush Retreat is rented out exclusively to 1 group of up to 8 guests at a time, and is ideal for family getaways or groups of friends. Please view bed/room configurations prior to booking, as the open-plan area does have a bunk bed configuration, which means the accommodation is more suited for 6 adults and 2 children. Please take into consideration, all sleeping areas are open-plan.

The eco-retreat is off-the-grid and makes use of solar and gas.

The house comprises 2 upstairs, open plan, loft bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen and dining area, and a lounge area. The first loft bedroom contains a king-size bed and a standing fan. The second loft room contains a double bed, a single bed, and a tri-bunk bed with a double bed bottom-bunk and a single bed top-bunk. Each bathroom contains a shower, a toilet, and a washbasin. The single beds are suited for children.

The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, 2-plate gas stove, microwave, and cutlery and crockery. The dining area contains an 8-seater dining table and chairs, and has stacker doors opening to the outdoors. Leading off the dining room is a spacious lounge with comfy seating and bean bags, a double sleeper couch, and a TV with Openview channels. Various family games and a mini-library are available.

Outside, there is a covered patio with outdoor seating. There is also a lapa with seating, a braai facility, and a splash pool. A children’s jungle gym with a see-saw, rocking boat, swings, slides, a fireman’s pole, playhouse, and kiddies double swing area will keep the little ones entertained. The property is secure with electric fencing, and the gates are locked each evening.

Guests can enjoy hiking and are free to wander through the cleared pathways or up the mountain path. Bring your own mountain bike or quad bike and explore the area. Enjoy animal feeding of selected animals, by arrangement.
