Description
Copperleigh Trout Cottages offers beautiful self-catering farm cottages, overlooking the calm waters of the 10-hectare trout-stocked Mavela Dam which guests have free access to fly fish - no additional rod or catch fees. Situated on a working sheep and cattle farm in the picturesque upper Dargle area, the property is located on route 3 of the popular Midlands Meander of KwaZulu-Natal, 30km from the town of Howick. Day fishermen are welcome to join guests for an additional fee.
Accommodation comprises 2 well-equipped self-catering units including Copperleigh Trout Lodge, a family-sized double-story house, and Copperleigh Trout Cabin, a romantic log Cabin.
Copperleigh Trout Lodge can accommodate up to 6 adults and 3 children. It comprises 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs, each with a shower and toilet. 2 bedrooms each feature a queen-size bed and are fitted with electric blankets and have ceiling fans and hairdryers. The main bedroom also has a single bed for a young child. The loft bedroom is suited for children or teenagers as it is furnished with a queen-size bed and a bunk bed. Other facilities include a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, open-plan lounge, and dining room with a guest toilet available downstairs. There is a fireplace inside the unit, and a complimentary bundle of firewood is provided daily, with an outside fire pit and braai, complimentary Wi-Fi, DStv Premium, board games, books, and toys for kids. This unit also has a double garage.
Copperleigh Trout Cabin is a beautiful log cabin built from the ground up and can accommodate a couple very comfortably. It has 1 bedroom furnished with a queen-size bed and fitted with an electric blanket. Both sliding doors lead out onto the verandah which is right on the water’s edge. Loungers and camping chairs are included for added comfort. The en-suite bathroom features a shower and a heated towel rail, soap and shampoo. The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering. The open-plan lounge has a TV, DVD player, and a large selection of movies to choose from, Android TV with Netflix, DStv Stream, and Showmax, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi. A bundle of firewood for the outside braai also supplied daily. There is an oil heater inside the Cabin but currently no fireplace. During loadshedding, a solar and battery system keeps the lights and Wi-Fi on.
Complimentary housekeeping is provided Monday to Saturday, Sunday will incur an extra charge.
Paddles and some life jackets are provided with the kayak at each unit. Guests should bring their own life jackets as there are limited sizes. There is a standby diesel generator to provide electricity in emergencies.
