Description

De Hoop Opstal Houses are set among the Milkwood trees near the Opstal area in the beautiful De Hoop Nature Reserve. The Opstal area is a central base from which to explore the reserve; The Fig Tree Restaurant can be found here, and is open all day. The on-site restaurant serves delicious meals prepared using locally sourced produce. Guests can either drive, hike or cycle to may of the interesting locations in the reserve.

There are three 3-bedroom houses, each with a separate sitting room with a fireplace, a dining room, and a fully equipped kitchen. The bathrooms have both baths and showers. Each kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, a microwave, an oven and stove, basic crockery and cutlery, basic kitchen utensils, and dish-washing liquid and a sponge. Each house has an outdoor braai area with a permanent braai grid and braai equipment. Firewood is not provided, guests are welcome to bring their own or purchase firewood from the curio shop. The houses are well appointed and ideal for families or a group of friends.

De Hoop Nature Reserve offers sea, sand dunes, the vlei, a floral sensation of rare fynbos plants, diverse antelope, and the Potberg mountains. Birders can observe wading birds on the shores of the vlei, while the Potberg mountains are home to a colony of endangered Cape vultures. Hikers and cyclists can enjoy close-up encounters with bontebok, Cape mountain zebra, eland, baboons, and ostrich. Guests can choose between various day walks through the rich fynbos plains or along the deserted coastline, mountain biking along the many gravel roads or scenic game drives. Lazing on the beach and snorkelling in the turquoise rock pools is another activity guests can enjoy. There is a tennis court, a swimming pool, and a boules courtyard.
