De Posjes Fossielplaas accommodation is situated in Fraseburg and offers accommodation for the adventurous with a unique fossil hunting experience available for bookings. The farm accommodation was developed to support the farm's rich historical heritage, unique geological formations and prehistoric fossils and make them accessible for all to experience and appreciate.

The basic accommodation is an open-plan stone house with accommodation for 6. Additional sleeping accommodation can be arranged. It holds a double bed, 2 single beds and a bunk bed. The bathroom has a bath, shower, toilet and basin. Bed linen and extra blankets are provided but guests are required to bring their own towels.

Furthermore, the unit comprises a living room, fireplace, and equipped kitchen. Gas stoves and water heaters keep the pot boiling and the water steaming. Solar power provides enough electricity for only lights and a medium fridge-freezer.

The farm is a working sheep and Angora Karoo farm, 50 km south of Fraserburg with snow and a fireplace in winter. The farm is also accessible by ordinary vehicle.

The historical name De Posjes refers to the Old Post Route which had to descend the steep ridges by horse-drawn carriage. The route also forms the farm's 4x4 route with a Karoo waterfall along the route.

Unique Corbelled houses and 150-year-old stone encampments are silent testimony to the pioneer farmers' courage and daring. Geologically, the farm forms part of the Karoo Highlands where 2 rock formations, Abrahamskraal and Theekloof formations come together to form unique sandstone with mud-gravel dunes. This is the reason why so many fossils are found. The Fossil Hunting tour makes fossils accessible to the young and old. 250 million-year-old fossils are found and pointed out in their original habitat.

Apart from the 4X4 trail and fossil tours, all other activities are included with the accommodation. Guests receive a 20% discount on the fossil tours. Other activities include cycling, walking, hiking, herding sheep, swimming in a farm dam, exploring the farm with a vehicle, experiencing stars and just relaxing.

All outdoor activities are handled by Karoo Fossil Tours, with a registered tour guide who is also on-site at all times. Visitors to Fraserburg can enjoy visiting fossil sites, sleeping in a Karoo cave, an indigenous succulent tour, or exploring the De Posjes 4x4 route. A historical tour of Fraserburg or a scenic drive along the Karoo escarpment can also be experienced.
