Die Poort Private Nature Reserve
Description
This North-facing cottage with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains forms part of a restored historic barn, dating from the early 20th century, that was also used for distilling wine and spirits. The 2 bedrooms each have 2 single beds and a bathroom with a shower and toilet and a large kitchen which leads onto an open porch with braai facilities. Bed linen and towels are supplied. A warm water geyser, a fridge and hot-plate are served by gas and solar panels and there are also solar lamps supplied. The cottage borders onto a historic furrow, constructed in 1870 and fed by a mountain stream to serve irrigation on Die Poort and a neighbouring farm.

Description
This restored cottage was originally built as a pioneer dwelling in 1915. It has a bedroom with a double bed, a kitchen and a bathroom with bath and toilet and there is an outdoor shower. Warm water is obtained from a geyser and there are a fridge and hot-plate, all served by gas and solar panels. The lighting is obtained from solar lamps. A separate adjacent building contains a bedroom with 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet. Bed linen and towels are supplied. Both buildings are north-facing and also border on the historic furrow, along which some old pepper trees provide shade on the veranda and a barbecue area. From everywhere there is a superb view of the river and mountains. A separate, nearby, log cabin, with two beds, is situated in a romantic spot between trees, next to the furrow.
