With a certificate of adequate enclosure, Donkerkloof is home to over 10 species of antelope: Kudu, Eland, Black Wildebeest, Hartebeest, Impala, Springbuck, Waterbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Steenbuck and Duiker along with many species of birds, reptiles and smaller mammals. The farm is 2000ha of valley bushveld that has not seen domestic stock for more than 3 decades. There are stunning walks or mountain bike rides as well as great trail runs so that you need not leave the farm.
The northern boundary of Addo is some 12km from the farm and it is about an hour's drive to get to the park entrance.
Somerset East is 45 minutes away, the beautiful little Karoo town is home to a stunning collection of Walter Battis paintings in the restored house once home to Battis.
An hour and a half from Donkerkloof is the historic town of Graaff-Reinet and the magnificent Valley of Desolation close by or if you have an early start you could even take in Nieu Bethesda and the iconic Owl House which houses the art of Helen Martins.
