Built in 1927 to a Sir Herbert Baker design, the Elgin Vintners Country House has been restored to its former glory, boasting luxurious country living in Elgin.
Accommodating up to 10 guests in four luxury suites, the house is child-friendly and gives guests the run of the property. Of the 4 suites, there are 3 two-sleeper units and 1 four-sleeper family unit. The Syfret Room is the perfect honeymoon suite and boasts old-word charm and rich Cape heritage. The room comprises a king bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. The Denniston Room is furnished with hypo-allergenic linen, down feather duvets, plush pillows and a king size bed which can be converted to twin beds, as well as an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower.
The Hahn Suite is a family suite which comprises 2 interlinked bedrooms and a shared bathroom with a bath and a shower. The first bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a king bed or 2 single beds. The Browne Suite is perfect for business travellers. It comprises a queen bed and a bathroom with a bath and a shower.
Each suite offers Wi-Fi, tea- and coffee- making facilities, and a lounge area with a TV with DStv.
The English country garden is the perfect place to experience the expansive view of the encircling Hottentots Holland and Kogelberg mountains. Take a stroll across the sweeping lawns to discover the secret fairy garden, explore ancient trees and hidden places, and enjoy the sensory explosion of the abundant flower beds in the terraced garden first planted in the 1920s. Explore the orchards, vineyards, hiking and mountain biking trails around the farm and along the Palmiet River or enjoy a game of tennis and a relaxing dip in the pool.
