- Guests think Forty Winks is in an excellent location
- Colsport Farm, Kamberg Road, Rosetta, 3300, KwaZulu-Natal
On the farm you’ll find blesbok, red hartebeest, duiker, oribi, zebra, black wildebeest and reedbuck. Occasionally one can see a porcupine and jackal especially at night. For the bird enthusiast we have visiting fish eagles and vultures, resident jackal buzzard, owls, waterfowl and, if you're lucky enough, you might spot a secretary bird.
For those that enjoy fishing, there are 2 well-stocked trout dams, with both rainbow and brown trout. The dams feature annually in the Kamberg Fly fishing Festival. There is a rod fee per day, and it is catch-and-release fishing only. Ethical fly fishing only, float tubes are permissible. With time we’re told there’ll be small mouth bass and trout available in the Springrove Dam.
The Kamberg Nature Reserve is 30 mins from the farm, and there’s a great hike to some of the best bushman paintings. They have guided walks 2 or 3 times per day and a small restaurant with scones, muffins and toasted sandwiches. They also have a small theatre where they show a documentary on the Bushman and Settlers in the this area, with more information on the bushman paintings. It’s a good day’s outing for our longer stay visitors looking for a day trip.
We have approximately 8 km of dirt roads and encourage you to use them with 4x4 vehicles only.
