Francolin Cottage

Lovely little cottage in keeping with the atmosphere of Greyton!

Comfortable bedrooms, luxurious showerhead and a well-equipped kitchen. Appreciated the coffee machine! We loved the sound of the river right next to the house and the horses passing by every day. Accidentally set off the alarm twice and was pleasantly surprise by the quick response from security. Would suggest eye-level mirrors, a light at the braai area and thicker curtains in the bedrooms.

Dit was baie rusteg.

Ons as gesin het dit baie geniet, veral my dogter. Sy wou nie eers huis toe gaan nie. Sal weer wil teruggaan. Baie dankie vir die gasvryheid.

Lovely getaway cottage within walking distance of main street.

Venue was perfect for a breakaway. Only shortcoming was lack of a kettle for gas stove as Greyton experienced several power outages outside of loadshedding. The impact could have been mitigated with a kettle for gas heating.

Slegte tydsberekening.

Met ons aankoms was daar 'n reuk van iets wat dood is wat in die huis gehang het. Die persoon wat ons ontvang het het gesê daar is vermoedelik 'n dooie rot in die dak en dat die gaste voor ons reeds daaroor gekla het. Ons het na 'n paar ure se verblyf dit onder die eienaar se aandag gebring dat die reuk ondraaglik is en dat dit onveilig is vir ons om alles oop te los vir ventilasie en dan die huis te verlaat. Al terugvoering wat ons aanvanklik van die eienaar ontvang het was dat dit slegte tydsberekening is en dat ons maar alles moet ooplos en hopelik gaan die reuk weg. Eers met die oggend van ons 3de dag se verblyf toe ons dit onder die eienaar se aandag bring dat daar 'n groot hoeveelheid larwes deur die plafonarea in ons badkamer val het hulle tot aksie oorgegaan. Die probleem is toe wel vinnig opgelos. Ons eerste 2 dae se verblyf was egter geen plesier nie en 'n vermorsing van ons geld. Andersins en onder normale omstandighede glo ek is dit 'n goeie keuse van verblyf.

Goed toegeruste huis en ideaal as jy Greyton wil verken en ontdek.

Francolin Cottage is 'n knus huisie wat baie goed toegerus is. Dit is sentraal genoeg dat Greyton verken kan word te voet. Alles binne en buite is ook baie skoon en netjies. Die braaiplek is bietjie ver van die huis af maar baie effektief. Kan die huis regtig aanbeveel indien jy Greyton wil besoek.

A little gem in Greyton

We had the most enjoyable stay at Francolin Cottage - it is extremely clean, well appointed with everything needed and the communication was excellent! Highly recommend this beautiful cottage walking distance to the town centre and ps. the plaasdam is an added bonus during the hot weather.

Beautiful, restful haven.

My partner and I came up to Greyton for a long weekend. We really loved Francolin Cottage, it was very well situated and within easy walking distance to the town. The accommodation was lovely, the kitchen well equipped, the bed was very comfortable and the shower had good power. The highlight for us was the beautiful garden - a river runs through the property and one accesses the garden via a wooden bridge. The braai area is under a huge ancient oak tree and there is a plunge pool at the end of the garden which we didn't get to use. We really loved the peace and quiet of the garden and the birdlife was a bonus. Really loved our time there. Just a heads up if you suffer from allergies, Oak tree pollen is not good for us pollen sufferers and it is spring at the moment!

Fantastiese Verblyf!

Dankie Dalene vir jou ongelooflike vriendelike ontvangs! Die pragtige vars blommetjies wat jy vir ons in die cottage gesit het. Pragtige plek, skoon, netjies, vars linne, warmste warm water, lieflike stort, oulikste 2de badkamertjie op die loft. Kombuis is ten volle toegerus, met lieflike wit breekgoed. Die stoepie wat direk uit die cottage gaan, was vir ons die lekkerste plek om te sit na ons 4 ure per dag op die fietse was. Ons het nie van die braaigeriewe gebruik gemaak nie, maar dit is ook lieflik uitgesit. Ons kon niks fout vind met iets in en om die cottage nie. Francolin Cottage sal ons voorwaar weer sien!

Lovely relaxed setting and a stunning cottage.

Cosy and great for just being able to relax.

Absolutely lovely, cosy, charming cottage, nicely situated in a quiet lane within easy walking distance to nearby pubs and restaurants.

Well equipped. We loved the loft bedroom, cosy lounge, river running through the garden etc. Ideal for a small family (there were 4 of us). The gas fire was rather hard to start up, but quite effective once we got it going. A log fire would be even nicer!

Ons het dit verskriklik geniet.

Die kothuis was soos uit 'n storieboek. Pragtig, netjies en knus ingerig. Die kaggel was heerlik warm gedurende die koue naweek. Net 'n jammerte dat ons nie die heerlike putbraai kon gebruik nie a.g.v. die reën, maar ons het steeds heerlik gekuier. Die Saterdagmark was baie lekker om te besoek met alles te ete en die restaurante op die dorpie was uitstaande. Ons sal beslis weer kom kuier.

The cottage and surrounding property (gardens) is an absolute gem.

Our stay at the cottage was so relaxing, especially the atmosphere of the stream and the gardens. We loved the solar lights that lit up the entire garden late evening which meant we could stay outdoors longer. The amenities inside the cottage surpassed all expectations, including the smart TV and the gas fireplace. We unfortunately didn't get to use the pool because the weather changed but we will definitely go back and hopefully there will be availability during the summer months. The manager, Dalene, is an absolutely lovely lady.

Relaxing stay in a well-fitted cottage with lovely outside facilities - boma, dipping pool, benches and river.

Somewhat annoying pool-pump noise from the adjacent house, which ran unnecessarily for 24 hours/day. Also a slightly mouldy smell in the main bedroom. Otherwise very comfortable with good facilities.

Lovely, relaxing stay

Beautiful garden and very well equipped cottage. Peaceful. Enjoyed the patio with its view of the stream and oak tree as well as the abundant birdlife in the garden.

Relaxed

The ideal town to relax and recharge and ideal for mountain bikers. The cottage is perfect in almost every way. Wild horses roam the street outside. It gets cold once the sun sets but ample blankets are provided as well as a gas fireplace.

We had the most amazing stay at Francolin Cottage. Everything you wanted for a complete break and to recharge those batteries.

The only thing I would recommend is that they take the TV off their offering. There is a TV with no DStv or WiFi, so effectively you can't use it. We would have liked to have been able to watch a movie at night.

Perfect weekend away.

Our 2-night stay was just perfect, was a chilly weekend so the fireplace was put to good use. The cottage is well equipped and beautifully clean to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Will definitely be back in warmer weather so the kids can enjoy the pool.

Lovely house with beautiful garden.

Short-walking distance to main street, restaurants etc. Dogs loved garden and river. Dogs must be well-behaved though as can venture downstream even though rest of garden fully enclosed. Stairs to upstairs bedroom quite steep so possibly not suitable for very young kids (younger than 5 years). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the cottage has everything we needed.

Very tranquil with some water in the stream, plenty of trees and birdsong. Home from home with everything that you need. Also appreciated the fact that dogs were allowed.

Not sure if there was a festival in town/Genadendaal, but very loud music was played on the Sat night till just after 12pm (and according to lockdown regulations, functions had to end at 11pm, no nightclubs allowed etc). I trust this is not a weekly occurrence, and if so, SAPS should control the noise for the good of all - it was way above permissible dB. Residents should try and curb that. Greyton has so much to offer - but that noise really spoils the tranquillity of the beautiful place. Otherwise a great place and stay. Good mountain-biking routes and pleasant walk. Will be back.

Die huis is smaakvol gemeubileer vir 4 persone. Pragtige tuin met waterstroom, eikeboom, swembad en buitebraai. Heerlik op die stoep en in die tuin gekuier. Pragtige woonbuurt. Ons gesin het niks gekort nie. Vriendelike bure. Die middedorp is slegs 700m se stap.

Absoluut die moeite werd!

Francolin Cottage is nie net 'n slaapplek, dit is baie netjies, met 'n gerieflike huislike atmosfeer asook buite ruimte vir heerlike saamkuier in 'n pragtige omgewing!

Loved the stay and the location. It was well equipped and the place was really fantastic.

Loved every minute of it. I think there was only 2 things lacking. It was DStv and WiFi. Also the pictures on the site does not do the place justice. It's much more beautiful when you are there. You really can't get the beauty of the place in the pictures on the site. Should definitely invest in loading other pics on. We simply love the place and will go there regularly.

Lovely accommodation with character and great facilities.

A charming cottage decorated with warmth and charm and with all modern conveniences. So special to have so many facilities in one accommodation option, including charming river or stream frontage, lawns and a plunge pool and all within easy walking distance of the village. A spacious and comfortable choice for anyone visiting Greyton.
