Description
The Heavin Forge Cottage is a historic self-catering property built in the 1800s, and is situated in Belfast. The cottage is located next door to the The Golden Mole Conservancy Guest House, and the Heavin Forge Bladesmithing Studio and School, which your hosts also manage. This property is ideally situated close to the beautiful sandstone N.G Kerk, and Belfast's first schoolhouse and the old town square.
The cottage is situated on the host’s secure property but has its own private entrance. The cottage can accommodate up to 5 guests and contains 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a guest toilet. The main bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed, and the second bedroom is equipped with a double bed. There is an extra single bed in an open-plan office. The bathroom has a shower with a gas geyser, and there is a second separate guest toilet.
The cottage features a kitchenette that is equipped with 2-plate stove and mini-oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, a toaster, and cutlery and crockery. There is a washing machine in the unit. There is an antique coal stove for decoration only, and a 6-seater dining table. The large lounge has a TV with local channels. Free Wi-Fi access is available to use. The front verandah contains outdoor seating, and there is a back patio area with outdoor dining furniture and a built-in braai.
The cottage also boasts filter water for drinking, panel heaters in each room for those chilly winter nights, a safe to store valuables, and a backup water and electricity system. There is parking for 3 cars behind a locked gate, and the whole property is fenced and linked to an armed response company.
You are welcome to bring your dog with you, the garden is fenced and if you happen to be travelling with a horse or 2, they are also welcome to stay in one of our paddocks, with a shelter, at a nominal fee. A 75 by 35 m grass riding arena and a lunging ring are also available.
Being next door to the Heavin Forge Bladesmithing Studio and School, your stay includes a free tour of the knifemaking studio, the showroom, collection of African weapons, and side saddle collection. Guests are also welcome to ‘meet the resident menagerie’ which includes horses, a donkey, dogs, geese and chickens.
