Heidedal is set on a farm that is located 27 km outside the town of Porterville in the Groot Winterhoeke Mountains and is part of the sanctuary near the Groot Winterhoek Nature Reserve. This establishment is 75 km from Tulbagh, 53 km from Piketberg and 75 km from Citrusdal.

Accommodation at Heidedal is provided in a self-catering unit, namely Grasdak Plaashuis. Grasdak Plaashuis is a big home that comprises 5 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms. The house sleeps 10 people in total. Three rooms are furnished with a king-sized bed, and 2 bedrooms are furnished with 2 single beds. The bathrooms are fitted with shower facilities.

There is a well-equipped kitchen with a fridge-freezer, microwave, stove-oven and a kettle. Guests have access to an open-plan dining area and the lounge has a fireplace for those cold winter evenings. The house has a spacious veranda with seating, dining and braai area, a view of the garden with large trees and a beautiful lawn on the mountains.

Die Stalle offers basic self-catering and has 2 bedrooms, each with a shower, toilet and basin. The unit can accommodate 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children. The kitchen has, amongst other things, a stove, fridge, crockery, a kettle, etc. It connects to the dining room. All rooms have a door leading to the patio with a table, chairs and braai facilities. Die Stalle also has a fantastic view of the mountains which certainly contributes to the tranquility.

The Fauna and Flora include klipspringers, cape grysbok and grey rhebok and predators, such as baboons, caracals, genets, wildcats and even leopards have been seen. The Cape fynbos in the area is rich in several species.
