Trafalgar got its name from the Anglo Boer War, and is situated right next to Sanlameer. Sanlameer's northern swimming beach is Marina Beach, which has Blue Flag status. Trafalgar Beach also has its Blue Flag status which was received in October 2009, which means that it is now one of the top beaches on the South African coast. The beach has safe parking with a security guard, neat and clean locker rooms, pool, shark nets, safe swimming beach and meets top water quality standards.
Trafalgar coastline is also a marine reserve, nature reserve, dunes reserve and fossil reserve. At low tide, the fossils in the rock bed and coral reefs are seen walking along the beach. Horseback riding takes place daily from Selborne Estate by sugar cane plantations, Trafalgar streets and along the beach and back. The beach is also very popular among anglers for its bronze bream and black musselcrackers. Good shad and kapeljou catches regularly occur in season.
