Description
Karoo Ridge Eco-lodge is situated in Karoo Ridge Conservancy, 58 km from Middelburg in the Eastern Cape. The lodges are situated on a 5000-hectare working farm with indigenous Nguni and Ankole cattle and game.
The River Lodge is set in a tranquil valley with breathtaking scenery and is simply and tastefully furnished. The home has been built from recycled materials and comprises 4 bedrooms, each bedroom furnished with two 3-quarter beds. Two of the bedrooms each have an en-suite bathroom with the option of a king-size bed, while the other 2 bedrooms have access to a shared bathroom. Both bath and shower facilities are available. Each bedroom opens out onto a central, open-plan living area.
The Mountain Lodge is situated in the foothills of the Mountains with wide open vistas in front. It is a two-bedroomed lodge. Both rooms are en-suite with a bath and shower. One bedroom has the option of a king-size bed, and the second bedroom has 2 single beds. Two sets of stacker doors open up from the open-plan living area to a spacious verandah with floating chairs and sunbeds.
Both have well-equipped kitchens with a fridge, oven and stove. Guests can be catered for on request should they prefer, although this must be organised before arrival. The units both lead out to a verandah with braai facilities and a fire pit.
Guests can enjoy walking trails or they can bring their bikes and explore the farm at their own leisure. Guests can look out for game such as zebra, black wildebeest, oryx, springbok, sable and blesbok. Other activities on offer include farming activities and a tour of the conservancy. The lodge also offers group team building, family fun and ‘Dads and Lads’ weekends.
